Vivian Joan Maltby, 93, passed away during the early morning hours on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Palo Verde Hospital.
Vivian was born on June 25, 1925 in Blythe to William and Zula Grubbs. She graduated from Palo Verde High School with the Class of 1943. Vivian was an extremely talented artist; her paintings can be found throughout the Palo Verde Valley, adorning many walls in businesses and more. She was also a well-known soprano soloist and opera singer. Vivian competed and won in the Ted Mack Amateur Hour (similar to today's America's Got Talent) for her singing. She was a beautiful person, inside and out; always giving what she could to those in need. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband E.O. Maltby; her granddaughter Sarah Nielsen; her sister Lavelle, brothers George and William 'Tumbo'.
She is survived by her children, Kay Murphy of Kingman, AZ, Sandra Nielsen of Blythe and Steve Nielsen of Palm Desert, CA; her grandchildren, Kathleen Murphy of Idaho, Kenneth Murphy of Kingman, AZ, Steven Murphy of Chico, CA, Danny Murphy of Valencia, CA and Matthew Nielsen of Indio, CA; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Palo Verde Cemetery.
