Tomas L. Gutierrez, 89, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends at his side on January 16, 2024.  Born on December 18, 1934 in Temastian, Jalisco, Mexico, he was the 6th of 13 children born to Maximino and Martina Gutierrez.

Tomas was raised in Mexico and came to Blythe in 1958 to work in Cibola as part of the Braceros Act for Beaver Brothers.  He worked in agriculture for his entire life working for Noroian Farms and Fisher Ranch.  In his early years, Tomas competed in Charreadas, as well as being very good with a lasso.

Tomas met Rachael Macias in 1964 and they were married on October 31, 1965 in Quartzsite, Arizona.  Together they raised two boys and three girls.

Tomas was a hard worker and a great father and grandpa.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Rachael of 58 years, along with his sons Joe and Tomas II (Irene) and daughters Selina Cierley, Rachel Lowrance (John) and Cynthia Lloyd (Josh).  Also surviving him are his 14 grandchildren: Jaime, Joe, Brittany and Vincent Gutierrez; Tomas Gutierrez III, Angelica Presley and Madonna Richards; Alexis Cano, Mikayla Hackney, Savannah Cierley and Alyssa Acuna; Jeg Lowrance; and Reece Ann and Mia Lloyd.  Tomas is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, his siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tomas was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Socorro and Zenaida and his brothers Andres, Guadalupe and Teodoro.

Tomas will be remembered as a humble man with a gentle heart.  He loved to smile and laugh.  He was a simple man who will be greatly missed by all of those he knew and loved.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Lloyd Residence at 574 N. Olive Lake Blvd. in Blythe.
