Thomas Bernard Reay
November 22, 1947- May 24, 2022

Thomas Bernard Reay (Tom), age 74 of Blythe, CA passed away at Abrazo West Campus Hospital in Goodyear, Arizona on May 24, 2022.

Tom was born in Pomona, CA at Pomona Valley Hospital to Jim and Margaret Reay on November 22, 1947. Tom was the forth child of six siblings in the Reay family.

At the age eight the Reay's moved to the Palo Verde Valley from Claremont, CA. Tom attended the local grade schools and middle school in Blythe and would graduate with the class of 1967 from Palo Verde High School.

Tom was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 where he was trained as a Service Battery, 7th Battalion, 8th field Artillery Specialist (Cannoneer) and sent to Vietnam at the height of the TET offensive. Tom saw enough combat that it would forever effect him; he did not come home the same.

After his discharge from the Army, Tom worked as a Union painter on movie sets at the American Zoetrope film Studio in Burbank, CA.

In 1996, Tom had a serious accident in Oregon that left him disabled and in a wheel chair. With the will to fight and strong faith in his Lord, Tom returned to Blythe where he took care of his mother Margaret throughout her old age, until she passed away in 2005.

Tom is survived by his brothers John and Mark (Shirley) of Blythe and his sister Dolores Moraga of Hillsboro, Oregon, many nieces and nephews and Tom's longtime special friend, Angela Clark and beloved goddaughter Destiney Wilson.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Margaret, his sister Christina and brother Patrick.

Tom will be remembered for his big heart and true kindness, especially his love for children and old folks.

Services will be held on Friday June 10th, 2022 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Rosary will begin at 9:00 am with Mass at 10:00 am. Internment will immediately follow the services at Palo Verde Cemetery, 343 10th Ave., Blythe, CA.
