It is with a heavy heart that the family of Nettie "SUE" Faulkner announce the death of our mother on August 9, 2024.

Sue was born April 3rd, 1938 in Jayton, Texas and moved to California with her family as a young child. She lived in bay area and married Charles William Gray and had two children: a daughter Cheryl Ann Gray Goodrich and a son Richard Glen Gray. After her divorce, she moved to Blythe, California in 1967 to be closer to her mother and siblings. Sue was the youngest of eight children; five boys and three girls. She was the last living sibling of the "Underwood" clan.

When Sue came to Blythe, she married Wayne Carl Faulkner and had her third child, a son Brian Paul Faulkner. Although Sue loved her community of Blythe she was always a "Texas Girl" who spent most time with her family, siblings, nieces and nephews who she adored. In the early years you would find her at weekly horse and cattle ropings, cheering her daughter on who also rode horses or yelling from the stands supporting her sons who were great baseball players. She enjoyed that activity and continued following her grandson's and even her great grandson's baseball games (in Blythe). She supported two of her grandchildren who were active in the local 4H and raised championship steers every year for the county fair. She traveled to Oregon to watch her grandsons play baseball and football and made some baseball/softball games in Cherry Valley watching Brian's children. She attended her granddaughters cheerleading activities as well. These were two of her best pastimes: she loved her grandchildren and she loved sports.

Sue is survived by her daughter Cheryl Goodrich of Lake Havasu City, AZ, her son Rick Gray of Blythe, CA and her son Brian Faulkner of Cherry Valley, CA.

Sue is also survived by her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; Chad Goodrich of Cathedral City, Jason Goodrich of Victorville, Chris Goodrich of Hesperia, Richard Glen Gray ll of Blythe, Tiffany Gray of Blythe, Anyssa Guillen of Texas and Brian Paul Faulkner Jr of Beaumont; great grandchildren are Ryan and Katy Goodrich, Zoey Goodrich, Kitty, Grace & Ricky Gray lll, Kyle Gray, Alina Guillen and Brian Paul Faulkner lll.

Sue started working at a local gas station and with her winning personality and love of people (she knew everyone) she excelled at management of service stations. There are many stories of how she helped people in bad situations who needed a "leg up in life" or maybe just a tank of gas. She had a long professional relationship with Wayne Cusick where she learned the service station business later moving on to manage the stations owned by Brian Kim. She retired from Brian Kim stations.

The family would also like to express heartfelt thanks to the ladies who helped care for our mother Alice Lyons, Mary Lopez and her two sons Javi and Esteban Leon, and Maria Silva.

A Celebration of life service will be held at Frye Chapel on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at 10:00 am. Family requests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Sue's favorite charity, St. Jude's Hospital.
