Sibyl Wynne Parker, 95, finished her race and went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2017. She was surrounded by family and friends in Katy, TX. Sibyl was born on December 24, 1921 in Bronte, TX to her parents Albert and Ruby Wynne. She grew up on her parent's farm, and in 1938 she put on Christ in baptism in the Rock Water Hole in Bronte and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for the rest of her life.

She married the love of her life, H. Lester Parker on August 22, 1941. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together.

Sibyl was a lifelong student and teacher. She attended Porterville Junior College in California, then transferred to Abilene Christian College. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1962. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from LaVerne University. She opened Ruth Brown Elementary School in Blythe, and taught there for 50 years! (If you can read this, thank her, because she probably taught you how to read. If you find grammatical and/or punctuation errors, it's because she didn't get a chance to proofread it!)

She is survived by her son-in-law and daughter, Joe and Annie Jo Simmons; her son-in-law Robert Miranda and his wife Jane; grandchildren Cynthia Cedeño and her husband, Julio; Vincent Miranda and his wife, Ginney; David Simmons and his wife, Becky; and Ryan Simmons; 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Sibyl was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruby Wynne; brothers Albert and Loyd Wynne, and sister Bessie Leah Beers; husband, H. Lester Parker; daughter, Sibyl Miranda; and son, H. Lester "Pepper" Parker, Jr.

The family will receive visitors at Frye Chapel on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. The service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blythe Church of Christ located on North Lovekin at Chanslorway. A graveside service will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery.
