Sebastian Cardenas, 87, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2017, in Blythe California.
Sebastian, who was fondly known as "El Frijolito" by his friends, was born on January 30, 1930, in Puerto De Valle, Guanajuato, Mexico to Macario and Cecilia Cardenas (Lopez). Sebastian immigrated to the United States as part of the Bracero Program in the mid 1950's.
He was married to the love of his life, Elena Cardenas (Sanchez) for 65 years. Sebastian, always being a hard and honest working man, moved to the Palo Verde Valley and worked with various agricultural farms as an irrigator for approximately 45 years before retiring.
Sebastian and Elena raised 7 children, 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He always enjoyed working in the outdoors. He taught all of his children the value of working hard and living life to the fullest. He was actively involved in the church, with his wife Elena, and was always willing to lend a helping hand with church activities and functions.
Sebastian loved nothing better than spending time with his family at gatherings, including birthdays and all holidays. He was a great life teacher to all of his grandchildren and often had them help with various home projects.
Sebastian's love of life, great attitude and his loving smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Sebastian is survived by his wife, Elena Cardenas, daughters Esther Ramirez (Gildardo), Estela Arcega (Jose), Diana Lopez (Victor), Irene Santoscoy (Carlos) and son Mario Cardenas (Victoria).
Sebastian was preceded in death by his father Macario Cardenas, his mother Cecilia Lopez, his son Alberto Cardenas, his grandson Gildardo Ramirez Jr. and daughter Angelica Cardenas.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 30, at the First Baptist Church, 100 W Murphy St, Blythe, California, 92225. Visitation will be held at 9:30 am prior to services.
Interment will follow at the Palo Verde Cemetery immediately after the celebration of life.
