Ruben Jauregui, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025 in Palm Springs, California at the age of 86. Born on November 25, 1938, in Sonora, Mexico to Jose and Maria Reyes Jauregui. Ruben lived a life marked by dedication, loyalty, hard work and an unceasing generosity towards family and friends.

He acquired a tenacious work ethic at an early age. At the age 10 when visiting his grandparents in Jalisco, Mexico he would go out to the family farm and help his grandfather plow and plant crops. When the family was young Papa Jose (Father) moved the family to Sonora, Mexico to work in the mines. To provide extra income for the family Mama Reyes (mother) would bake bread every morning, Ruben would go door to door selling the bread every day, he would not return home till all the bread was sold, that work ethic and resilience stayed with him throughout his life.

In the 1960's Ruben came to the United States as part of the Bracero Program, he decided to stay permanently in the USA, and bought a house in Ripley, California. He worked as an Irrigator for different ranches, he eventually decided to stay with Pacific Lettuce Ranch, first as an Irrigator and then becoming the General Foreman for many years. He was the ultimate go getter, even though he worked long hours as a General Foreman managing what was considered at the time one of the biggest custom lettuce Growers in the Palo Verde Valley, he still found time to venture out into other businesses, he bought a few acres and raised livestock, opened a gas station in Ripley, and partnered up with his boss and farmed alfalfa hay for a few years , he used to say that in order to be successful you have to work 24/7. One of his proudest moments was when he became a naturalized USA citizen.

Eventually Ruben decided to retire at the age of 75, which gave him more time to take care of his wife Josefina and spend time with family. He enjoyed working on projects around the house and cooking his delicious Birria/Barbacoa (second to none) for family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and never missed Sunday mass, and enjoyed helping around church.

Ruben's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the fortune of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by those who loved him and the many lives he impacted with his friendship and generosity.

Ruben is survived by his wife Josefina Jauregui, son Alfonso Jauregui, daughter in law Martha (Martita) Jauregui, son Ruben Jauregui, daughter in law Celia Jauregui, son Gerardo(Jerry)Jauregui, daughter in law Marcella Jauregui, daughter Guadalupe (Lupe) Jauregui, son Rafael Jauregui, daughter in law Claudia Jauregui, and daughter Esmeralda(Esmy)Jauregui and Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters Ramona Jauregui Martinez, Gloria Jauregui Montijo, Teresa Jauregui and Maria De Jesus Jauregui Alvarez.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria Reyes Jauregui, daughter Lorena Hernandez, granddaughter Miriam(Kiri)Jauregui, sister Eustolia Jauregui Garcia, brother Raul Jauregui, brother Rubencito Jauregui, sister Guadalupe Jauregui, sister Senorina Jauregui Sanchez, brother Alfonso Jauregui, brother Pablo Jauregui and sister Manuelita Jauregui.
