Obituary

Rogelio "Roy" Garcia, 73, of Blythe, California, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2020. He was born on December 19, 1946, in Zaragoza, Mexico to Florencia Garcia Vazquez and Jose Hernandez. Roy was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his children Roger Ray and Veronica Garcia, stepson Jose Escobedo, siblings: Raul Garcia, Abelardo Garcia, Sally Vazquez, Arnulfo Vazquez, Olga Vazquez, Hector Vazquez, and Irma Hernandez and several nieces and nephews which he adored. Roy was preceded in death by his mother Florencia Garcia Vazquez, son David Garcia Ray.

Roy loved his family and spoke highly of his children. He loved playing basketball, sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, cooking outdoors, playing guitar and music, singing, and hanging out with his brothers and friends.  His life became challenging when he lost one of his legs working at the cattle feed yard and with the loss of his son David, but he lived a much healthier life the last few years of his life. Roy loved making things with his hands and would always add an artistic accent to them, he could fix almost anything and especially loved trying new recipes with his own twist. He had a few sayings that he would always say, some being:  "You got it, Toyota" and "Show me the way, give me a sunny day" and a few others.

Roy's smile will be missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Due to COVID his memorial services were suspended. However, his memorial service will be held along with brother, Oscar Garcia's memorial service at Frye Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 10 a.m.
