Obituary

Robert Earl Watkins, also known as "Butterfly", slipped away and went to be with his Lord on February 28, 2023.

Robert was born in Blythe, CA on June 29, 1958 to the late Girly and Frank Sr. Watkins. He was the 6th child of seven children born to this union.

He attended the local schools in Blythe and graduated from Palo Verde High School. He has been married to Alice Watkins for over 32 years, in Blythe Ca.

Robert spent his years working in agriculture, as well as being employed for supervising in the maintenance department.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Watkins; his two sons Robert Watkins Jr. and James Watkins; his daughter Shanika Scott; his brothers, Frank Jr. "BoBo" Watkins (Sheila), his sisters, Shirley Watkins, Sylvia Love, Frankie Glaspie, Patricia Watkins and his extended family, Antique Adams, Andrea Powell (Duck), Danny Roy, Wanda Roy, Audrey Roy, Tracy Roy and Sandra Jackson; grandchildren Riley Watkins, Kaylee Watkins, Kira Watkins, Jayden Scott and host of nieces and nephews who love their uncle Robert (Rob).

To know Robert was to love Robert. Whether he was privately enjoying his music, or dancing with his sisters, whom have said he had two left feet, or riding in the car with his oldest sister Frankie in Blythe and sometimes his friend Sheila Cross see him riding his bike or walking and pick him up. Or Robert being a carefree child with his brother BoBo in the alleyways near 1st Street. Robert enjoyed basketball with his big brother BoBo, helping out at the park events with Arlene Wilhite and Charlotte Ross, (who named him Butterfly), playing dominoes, and just being around the people he loved. Robert was sure to bring a little bit of light into everyone lives.

Mr. Robert Earl Watkins was preceded in death by his parents Girly and Frank Sr. Watkins, and his oldest brother Art Roy.

A memorial service for Robert will be held on Friday, March 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel.
