Obituary

RICHARD "RICHIE" TALIAFERRO, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at his home in Blythe, California.

Richard was born October 17, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the beloved husband and best friend of his one and only love of 26 years, the late Patricia Ann McColley. They married in 1962 and were blessed with three daughters and one son.  Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a military police officer. He had a long career of 36 years with the Southern California Gas Company where he gained many
lifelong friends before retiring in 1993.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, having spent much of his childhood walking to Wrigley Field.  He always joked that he couldn't tell you what happened yesterday but could still recall the Cubs' starting lineups from over seventy years ago. When he wasn't watching sports, he was listening
to old-time country music, constantly reminding everyone around him that "they don't make it like they used to."

Richard is survived by his children, Colleen (Tim) Burt, Kathy (Kirby) Hightower, and Margaret (Rolando) Cavazos. Also surviving are: three grandsons, three granddaughters, and one great grandson.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Taliaferro in 1988, his two sisters, Jeanne (2005) and Brenda (2010), and his son, Thomas Taliaferro in 2018.

Richard was known for his crazy sense of humor, telling many jokes and stories which cannot be printed here. He was deeply loved and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

There will be a private family service to remember his life on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
