Richard
Gilmore
Mar 30, 1949 — Oct 18, 2023
Blythe
Richard "Dickie" Gilmore, 74, passed away October 18, 2023. It's said with a small grin on his face. He was the son of Leota Ila and Richard Louis Gilmore. He is survived by son Craig Mc Millan, Jimmy, Mike Foster and daughter Susan Tennell, daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren Amber R, Tommy F, Skylar H, Mariah L, granddaughter-in-law Amber S and great grandchildren, Amelia R, Gavin S, Trenten P, Naomi L, William R and Khaleesi M.
Richard moved to Blythe as a young boy, he lived here for over 64 years. He went to college in Pomona, California and then moved back to Blythe where he took a job with Palo Verde Irrigation District. He worked at PVID for over 40 years as an Assessor, Secretary and Tax Collector.
He was married to Evelyn K Holman- Gilmore. Evelyn would tell us stories of Dickie watching the boys. She'd come home from work, and there she'd see Dickie in his chair with his dinner on his T.V. tray and a Coors. On the floor would be the boys, in front of a football game with tiny T.V. trays, dinner and one of those half cans of Coors and big smiles on their faces. He would take the kids four-wheeling and let them drive.
He was such a wonderful man, son, brother, husband, father, friend, grandfather and role model. He helped anyone and everyone. He is loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Richard loved without judgement, and spoiled those around him with love and kindness. He was funny, a great story teller, loved going off-road, guns and target practice and reading. He was so intelligent and loved Blythe.
Richard loved all of his grandchildren dearly. However, he grew a bond with his seven year old bestie Nemo his great granddaughter Naomi.
A very humble, simple man we will all remember as a 'Gentle Giant' with the heart of 10 men.
Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. here in Blythe at Frye Chapel. Burial will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Evelyn, who passed away in 2019.
