Rene Antonio Salazar passed away suddenly on August 2nd 2021 at Desert Regional hospital in Palm Springs, CA. Rene was born on August 9th 1970 in King City, CA to Maria Salazar and Nicolas Bravo. He is the oldest of his siblings. (Surviving siblings- Ralph Cota, Mike Cota and Adrienne Dickinson)

Rene moved to Blythe, CA in 1976. He proudly grew up on the "WEST SIDE" of town. Raised, by his adored grandparents (Antonio & Beatriz Salazar) he attended Twin Palms high school at graduated with a GED. Post graduation he attained his welding certificate and from there, he became a Boilermaker joining the Union. Rene was part of the Local #92 family. For Rene, his job was a network of "Brothers" that he held very dear to his heart. For 20 years, this remained his profession.

Rene married in 1991 to Mary Delao and started a family. Although this was not a "forever union", together, they had four beautiful children. (Cristina, Michael, Ricky and Mark Christopher)

In 2009 Rene met the love of his life Latisha Townsend. They were married on March 31st 2012. From that day forward, they became a blended and blessed family of eleven. (Daughters, Cristina and Dazanique, Sons, Michael, Ricky, Derek, Devonte, Robert, Michael and Geovanni.) Adding, six adored grandchildren along the way. (Josiah, Antonio, Sarah, Kara, Zane and Ronnie.) As well as three God children Aiden, Malik, and Mickayla.

Rene, had many nicknames and titles. To name a couple, Chango (to family) and Meatball (to his work brothers). His favorite titles were, Dad, Tata, husband, and Nino.

Rene enjoyed many things in life. He was a diehard Raiders fan and he had a passion for cars and was a member of City Cruisers for many years. He loved music and dancing with his wife. He loved to cook. He loved to create new recipes or perfect old ones. From ramen sandwiches to a gourmet smoked salmon meal. This guy was creative in the kitchen to say the least. He enjoyed fishing locally and also deep sea. Sadly, he never got his prized tuna. However, it was not from a lack of effort. Rene loved to hit the freeway with friends and family for weekend getaways. From Vegas to Mexico, in a car or cruise ship. He enjoyed traveling and new experiences.

Rene leaves behind, His beloved wife, nine children, six grandbabies, three God children, many aunts, nieces, cousins, extended family and countless friends. He will be missed by all.

Rene Salazar was a one-of-a-kind guy. If he loved you, you knew it. He loved his family with all he had. Please, think of him as "LIVING" in the hearts of those he touched... For nothing loved is ever lost and he was LOVED so very much.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel with burial services following at Palo Verde Cemetery.
