Our loving Rebeca Llaven Balbastro, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away in her home on September 23, 2025,  in Blythe, California at the age of 85, surrounded by family. Rebeca was born on August 12, 1940, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico, to Rosalba and Jesus Llaven, Rebeca lived a life defined by faith, strength, and unconditional love. Rebeca was more than just our mother/wife – she was the heart of our family, the keeper of traditions, and the source of endless love and wisdom.

Rebeca was a beautiful woman inside and out. She cared for others with a selfless heart and gave her love freely, leaving a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.  Her greatest joy came from her family she was a proud mother and grandmother.

Rebeca was a faithful and loving wife to her husband, Jose Balbastro, with whom she shared 60 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and faith. She was the cherished mother of Rebecca (Sonny) Candelaria, Cecilia Llaven, and Elvia Llaven; the treasured grandmother of Christopher, Sunnie, Brittney, Sydnie, Courtnie, and Cassie; and the loving great-grandmother of Vittoria, Juliana, Jaxon, Liam, Jameson, Leanna, and Ethan.

Rebeca was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalba and Jesús, and her beloved sisters, Josephina and María. Though our hearts grieve, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with them in God's eternal embrace.

Rebeca's legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family, but also for her generosity, her unwavering faith, and her ability to love with her whole heart. Along with her infectious smile.

A Celebration of Life for our loved one Rebeca will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church on Friday, October 17th:

Rosary 9:00 a.m.
Mass 10:00 a.m.
Burial 11:00 a.m.

Celebration of Life to follow after interment. Location will be announced at the services.
