Ramiro Rodriguez, also known as "Tata Shrek" and "Corky" went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2017, in Rancho Mirage, CA at the age of 75.
Ramiro is survived by his wife, Rose Rodriguez, his son Ramiro Rodriguez Jr. (Paola) of Blythe, CA, his daughter Rosa Maria Gomez (Jose Manuel) of Blythe; his grandchildren Kiabeth Tais Rodriguez, Avril Elizabeth Rodriguez, Daniel Ramiro Rodriguez, his sisters Vertudes Galvan Rodriguez, Albarina Fernandez Rodriguez, and Albina Santalla Rodriguez. He is preceded in death by his parents Juan Bautista Rodriguez and Basilisa Lopez Rodriguez, his sister Delia Librian Rodriguez, his sister Luisa Alvarez Rodriguez, and his brother Juan Bautista Rodriguez.
Ramiro was born on July 29, 1942, in San Juan de la Mata, Spain to Juan Bautista and Basilisa Rodriguez. He went to school in San Juan de la Mata, Spain. In the 1960's, he proudly served his country. His love for Spain never died, and he always carried the memories of his country in his heart. He often shared stories of his life in Spain.
He came to the United States in 1966 as a sheepherder. In 1972, he began working for Jimenez Farms. He worked there for 27 years as a machine operator. In 1972 he met the love of his life, Rose Rodriguez (Vasquez) and they married in 1974. In 1975 his son, Ramiro Jr. was born, and in 1981 his daughter Rosa Maria was born. His children remember him as a loving, gentle and hard-working father. He taught his children to always pursue their goals in life, and it was very important to him that his children be happy.
Ramiro was a warm-hearted man who always wanted to make people comfortable in his home. His greatest talent was cooking good food for family and friends. He is best described as a family man who loved family gatherings. His grandchildren were the light of his eyes, and he always made time for them. Ramiro was a very humorous man; he always made people smile and laugh.
A Rosary is scheduled Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Frye Chapel in Blythe, CA at 7:00 pm. The funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, December 4, 2017, at 10:00 am at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Blythe, CA. Father Henry Licznerski will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ramiro's life. The family would like to thank all of their family and friends for continued thoughts, and prayers.
