Neil John, long-time resident of Blythe, California, passed away peacefully at his home, January 3, 2018. He was born on March 24, 1931 in Safford, Arizona, son of Jared Curtis Jr. and Alice B. John.
His father farmed in Solomonville, AZ and later moved his family to farm in Scottsdale, Arizona. They later traded the property for land to farm in Blythe, California. He became active in church and community affairs. He served in the scouting program and was a Bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He eventually served as a Stake President and a Patriarch in the church. He and his wife served a mission for the church in the Phillipines.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, and his eight children—Julie Ann Moore, Joseph Neil John (Jody), Jeannine Rucker, Jennifer Hancock, Jocelyn Barnes, Jared Winsor John, Jonathan Merrill John, and Jessica Soto. There are 45 grandchildren and 80 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 700 N. Broadway, in Blythe, CA on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10am. His final resting place will be at the Palo Verde Cemetery.
