Michael Scott Clayton, "A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend," passed away from a battle with cancer on January 24th, 2022 with his daughters by his side.

Mike was born on September 6th, 1954 in Merced, CA to Myrl and Virginia Clayton, along with four sisters. In 1961 the Clayton family moved to Blythe, CA, where Mike grew up and the family owned a ranch, farming cotton. The Clayton family had a history of farming cotton and Mike enjoyed helping his dad farm during his high school years. Mike graduated high school in 1972 from Palo Verde High.

After high school he pursued construction in the San Diego and Yuma area. He enjoyed driving trucks many years of his career and was employed with 7up, Berger Farms, Mallet & Sons Trucking, etc. Mike ended his career employed with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), for over 20 years, as a heavy equipment operator, and a mentor to many new employees.

Mike lived his life to the fullest, having as much fun as possible. His favorite hobby throughout his entire lifetime was racing of all types, all-time favorite "top fuel hydro boats." He also enjoyed traveling numerous weekends to watch sprint cars, drags, and desert racing. If anyone wanted to know any information about racing, Mike was the one to ask. Mike also enjoyed traveling to many dirt bike races for his son Bradley, taking his daughters along with him. In 2015, Mike suffered the tragic loss of his son in a dirt bike accident. This event had a profound impact on his life through the years after. He looked forward every year to helping out with his son's memorial poker run.

Family was very important to Mike. He loved his grandchildren, making them laugh, cracking jokes, and teasing them often. He often went to their swim meets, baseball games, dance recitals, dirt bike races, and also traveled to many of his niece's college softball games. Mike looked forward to his sisters' family dinners for all holiday occasions. He had a passion for his dogs, driving them around the farming land in Blythe, walking them on the canal banks, and taking them for an everyday treat.

Growing up in Blythe and living there most of his life, Mike was a well-known man in the area and acquired many friends throughout his lifetime. He liked his bud light beer "cold ones," and enjoyed hanging out at the bars in Blythe and in Parker, AZ. Mike was the type of guy to have a beer with, socialize, enjoy many laughs, share many jokes and stories, and just have a good time.

We will mourn the loss of "OG" "Muncle Mike" and carry his memories in our everyday lives forever.

Mike is survived by daughters Kendra (Daniel) Johnson and Jamie (Hector) Enriquez; Dorothy Clayton. Grandchildren Obrie, Andrea, Jolee, Cameron, Braiden, Haylee, Deegan, Jayden, Davin, Gage, and Michael. Sisters Linda (Gary) Currier, Gail (Billy) Weaver, Nancy Ireson, and Stacey Pettis.

He was preceded in death by son Bradley Scott Clayton and parents Myrl and Virginia Clayton.

Visitation for those who would like to say goodbye to Mike will be held on Friday, February 11th from 5-8 PM at Frye Chapel.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 25th, 2022 at 10 AM at Frye Chapel and Mortuary. Burial of ashes will be at a later date. A reception will follow the memorial service at The Legion.
