Melvin Ray Stricklin was called to heaven at the age of 74 on Friday, August 25th, 2017.
Melvin was born on September 16th, 1942 in Monahans, Texas. He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1961 and went on to have a career with the Palo Verde Irrigation District and Southern California Gas Company, where he retired in 2006.
In Melvin's early years, he had a passion for skydiving, where he reached 982 jumps in his lifetime. Melvin enjoyed listening to music, singing and playing guitar. He was a proud Star Trek fan and collector, in which he attended many conventions and shows throughout the years. Melvin could always be found behind a camera capturing every single family gathering, sporting event and academic accomplishment of his children and grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Ford & Willodean Stricklin and sister Helen. He leaves his wife and queen of 50 years, Georgia Stricklin; sister Midge; children Michelle and Dawn; grandchildren Terris, Cierra and Xarra; and great grandchildren Deagan and Jiovanni. Melvin also leaves mother in law Frances Fowler, who he loved dearly. He will truly be missed by the many friends and family who enjoyed his energetic presence and funny jokes throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, all donations can be made in Melvin's name to the American Cancer Society.
