Obituary

Martha Ann (Jones) Johnson was the third born of thirteen siblings on February 4, 1924 in Blythe, California to her parents Edmond L. and Frances Mae (Cunningham) Jones.

Martha attended elementary school in Blythe but her high school years were put on hold to help take care of the family farm and help with her younger siblings. At a young age, she began her working career to help provide for her family.

In 1944, she met and married Frank Johnson and to this union four children were born.

Martha's careers consisted of a variety of jobs; from working on the family farm, summer months in the tomato fields and various restaurants. Her longtime careers were with Claypool and Company Grocery Store and with Palo Verde Unified School District as a custodian, which she retired from in the 1980's.

On July 3, 2017, at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, Martha entered into her final resting place in God's hands (now on Delna's watch).

She is survived by her children, Arnold Johnson and Janis Johnson, both of Blythe; six grandchildren, Robert, Leticia, Taarunn, Shahneka, Rachelle and Randa; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Eunice Winston, Julia Mack, Eddie B. Love and Barbara Love; brothers, Roy Jones and Carl Jones; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Johnson Sr.; her sons, Herman Clark, Robert L. Johnson Sr., Frank Johnson Jr. and Aaron Johnson; her daughter, Delna L. Johnson and daughter-in-law Frances Johnson; sisters, Estella Wilkins, Nina Hill and Delores White; brothers, William Jones, Elmore Jones and Charles Jones; and her grandson, Jordan J. Johnson.

Martha was devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt (Aunt Ted), grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed and memory will live on forever.
