Obituary

Manuel Barrera passed away on January 26, 2019 at the age of 72. Manuel was born on November 2, 1946 to Roberto and Eulalia Barrera in Calexico, California.

Manuel came to Blythe when he was very young where he grew up and attended local schools. Throughout the years, Manuel not only developed lasting friendships, but a love for life.

Manuel had a love and natural raw talent for painting landscapes which he entered and won recognition in various county fairs, receiving great admiration for the paintings that adorned his home.

Although a natural artist, Manuel's biggest passions were fast cars, boats and motorcycles. You could always find Manuel in his garage working on an engine or cleaning and polishing his cars. So much so, that family and friends would joke about his cars being so clean you could eat off of them and no one could remember seeing them unwashed.

Manuel loved the outdoors, spending countless hours on the river just relaxing on the banks, spending time with family and friends.

Manuel was a "Jack of All Trades" and truly was a master of all. He was a carpenter, electrician and a mechanic who could literally fix anything never taking shortcuts always striving for the best.

Manuel married the love of his life Lynn Holth on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1994 with whom he shared everything and loved deeply. They traveled and shared good times together which Manual spoke of often.

Manuel is survived by his children who he loved. His son Bobby (Barrera) Krauss and his daughter Kimberley Messerli, who he called his "Angel"; his grandchildren Adrian Krauss, Haley Hibbitts and Blake Ratcliff who he cherished dearly; his sisters Pauline Brooks, Rosalie Robins and Margaret Lozano, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Manuel was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Lynn Holth-Barrera, son Miguel Barrera, brothers Robert and Edward Barrera.

Manuel will be missed dearly but will be forever in our hearts leaving us with memories of his laughter, smile and endless stories.
