Lydia Martina Ortiz, 89, known as Martina to family and friends, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 9, 2019 in her home with her family by her side.  She was born in Blythe, California on August 4, 1929 to Angela & Salvador Garcia along with her 8 siblings.

She married her late husband, Manuel Ortiz, on December 13th, 1958 and mothered three children.  She spent most of her life caring for and raising many members of her family, as well as many children in her neighborhood.

Martina was known for her strong will and tough personality, often drawing people to seek out her advice and guidance.  She loved cooking and took great pride in making her meals homemade.

Martina is survived by her daughter Sandra, and two sons, Julian and Ralph Ortiz.  She is also survived by her siblings Helen Martinez, Lily Suffle, and Victor Garcia.  Martina had 11 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24th at Frye Chapel beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held Friday, January 25th at 11 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with committal services following at Palo Verde Cemetery.
