Lucille Walker was born August 24, 1941 in Leake County, Mississippi to her late father Luther Martin and her mother Florence Martin. Lucille was the oldest of 15 children. She spent the early years of her life attending McVille Elementary school and Coway High school in Leake County. She later moved to Steele, Missouri where she met and married her long time love, Felton Walker, on August 21, 1959. Together they shared 56 years of marriage and to this union were born five fabulous children, Curtis, Mavis Ann, Bobbie, Judy, and Valerie.

In 1963, Felton and Lucille moved to Ripley, California where she worked odd jobs in agriculture and restaurant's before later moving to Blythe, California. Lucille then began working as a C.N.A. and that is when she discovered her true calling and returned to school to become the nurse we all knew her as. She worked as a nurse for Palo Verde Hospital for 41 years as an E.R, med-surge, O.B., and then surgery before retiring. Lucille also served as the Riverside County jail nurse for 28 years in Blythe, Ca.

Lucille was a great woman of faith who grew up in church as a little girl attending Maxfield Church, currently known as Pleasant Grove #1, in Attala County, Mississippi. After arriving in Ripley she attended church under Reverend Samuel Powell before becoming a member of Greater White Rose COGIC. Lucille was over various offices for the church, including purity class, mission, Sunday School President, and Y.P.W.W. In 2018 she was installed as Church Mother of Greater White Rose COGIC, under Elder Carbin. Lucille was truly a praying woman who travelled the highways and sky ways to attend church meetings with her road dog, Lou Ella Harp Reed. There is so much that can be said about this great woman of God and if you knew her, then you know.

On December 28, 2021 Lucille heard the voice of Jesus calling, "Come on with me my child. I'll take you to the King." Lucille went to sleep on this side and woke up with her wings. She joined her husband Felton, father, Luther, Sisters Mary (Kitty) and Shirly, as well as her brothers Luther, Jr., George, Jerry, Terry, and Johnny who all proceeded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Florence Martin of Kosciusko, MS; her only son Curtis (Ronella) of Goodyear, AZ and her lovely daughters Mavis Ann, Bobbie, Judy, and Valerie of Blythe, CA; her Sisters Ruth Jean Pickett of Milwaukee, WS, Charlie Mae Robinson of Stockton, Ca, Sheila Robinson of Sacramento, CA, Betty (Willie) Allen of Kosciusko, MS; her brothers Billy (Rose) of Kosciusko, MS, Earnest Robinson of Blythe, CA, Jessie (Rose) of Fresno, CA; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; her Greater White Rose COGIC family; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was a mother, granny, and aunt to the entire community. Lucille has been knitted in a quilt of memories she left behind for us. She is forever blanketed in the love of the Lord.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 9th from 5-7:00 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 10th at 10:00 a.m. also at Frye Chapel with interment following at Palo Verde Cemetery where she will be laid to eternally rest with her husband, Felton.
