Louise Berger aka Nana was born Louise Wilson to parents Steve and Myrtle (Eversole) Wilson on October 6, 1949 at Oneida Hospital in Oneida, Kentucky. She was the youngest of nine children. She grew up living in Mill Pond Hollow in Manchester, Kentucky. She attended elementary school at Lower Laurel Elementary and in 1967 graduated high school as the class Salutatorian from Oneida Baptist Institute where she was a varsity cheerleader and varsity basketball player.

Upon graduation she moved to Covington, Kentucky and attended Cosmetology school where she became a hair stylist.

In 1970 she moved to Memphis Tennessee, where she met her first husband.

She moved back to her hometown of Manchester (Clay County) Kentucky approximately 1 year after the birth of her daughter Sandra (Carter-Berger) Fox aka Sissy.

In 1978 she moved to Blythe, California where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Shortly after moving to Blythe, she met her second husband Duane Berger (who her family lovingly refers to as Papa).

Louise worked as a Bartender at the Courtesy Coffee Shop and Lounge until she decided to pursue a long time dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She returned to school and graduated with her RN degree from the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California in 1988.

After graduation she landed a job at the Blythe Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center; where her love of the elderly and her passion as an advocate for the members of the elderly population flourished. She became the Director of Nursing not long after being hired. In 1999 she opened the Circle of Life Assisted Living and Adult Day Care Center in an attempt to broaden the options to those families in the community who needed assistance with their elderly loved ones but who were not at a stage of needing complete care.

In 2002 Louise was awarded the George Telisman Memorial Award for Outstanding Advocacy and Community Service from the Riverside County Advisory Council Office on Aging. After the sale of the Circle of Life in 2006; Louise shifted her focus and organizational skills to supporting her husband in the running of Barnes and Berger Farms during the busy harvesting times. During the calmer times she spent every available moment with her grandchildren. Ever caring, ever in motion; she was often lovingly referred to as the Energizer Bunny.

From the age of 22 years, she had battled her nemesis known as the diagnosis of Respiratory Primary Amyloidosis. She lived 43 years longer than her Doctors' original projection of 2 to 3 years given to her in the early 1970's. She was many things to many people, but mostly she was a Warrior, not only for herself, and for her family, but also for the elderly population of her community. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Duane E. Berger, her daughter Sandra M. Fox, her grandchildren Aidan P. Fox, Layla L. Fox, Zane E. Fox, Riley R. Cook, Dylan Jenkins, and Trevor Jenkins. She is also survived by her sisters Beulah Carter and Kathy Plante, her brother Ray Wilson, Nieces and Great Nieces Sandra Hudson, Kendra Allen, Megan Allen, Colby Allen, Kim Dean Kelley, and Tatum Vansickle as well as her beloved Nephews and Grand Nephews Scott Allen, Bobby Joe Wilson, Steven Wilson and Hudson Schweer. Her final resting place will be at the Brack-Wilson Family Cemetery in Bear Creek Hollow, Oneida, Kentucky. Memorial Services will be held at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Blythe, California on Saturday January 27th, 2018 at 11 am with a reception following at the Blythe Golf Course Clubhouse.
