Linda Jean Hayes, 83, passed away December 14, 2023, in Palm Springs, CA.

Linda was born October 10, 1940, in Brownsville, PA to John and Margaret (Peggy) Weiss. She moved to California at a young age with her family and attended local schools, graduating from Palo Verde High School in 1958.

Shortly after graduation, on October 18, 1958, Linda married Charles C. Hayes, Jr. They began their 52-year marriage traveling to Germany to live, while her husband served in the U.S. Army. They then returned to the United States, bringing with them their first-born son. Linda and Cliff chose to live the remainder of their lives in Blythe, CA where they raised their three children.

She shared many outdoor activities with her family and friends, enjoying the river, fishing, bike riding, and horseback riding. Reading was her favorite past-time though, always saying it was what kept her sane.

Linda became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at a young age and was instrumental in many family members joining the church as well. She was very proud of her calling to work in the Family History Center, assisting anyone who wanted to learn and work on their family histories.

She worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as Manager of the Blythe Office.

She is survived by her sisters Nancy Watson and Judy Moore; children Charles C. Hayes III, Carol Hayes, and Joseph D. Hayes; grandchildren Ned W. Hyduke III (Chelsea), Charity Hayes, Faith Hayes; and great granddaughter Alyssa; and all her extended family members.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Hayes, Jr, her parents, sister Peggy Harvey, and brother Jack Weiss.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Graveside service will be held at Palo Verde Cemetery, Friday December 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
