Linda Kay Russell Haselton

May 1933 - February 2021

Linda is now living in paradise with her Lord Jesus.  She was born to Robert A. Russell and W. Fay Russell in May of 1933 in Huntington Park, California. She grew up on the beaches of Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. In 1951 she graduated from Huntington Beach High School at the top of her class. Linda belonged to the Tri-City Wranglers Riding Club and participated in parades and many horse shows including the Indio Date Festival and California State finals. She was known for her ability to square dance with her horse and western riding equitation skills. After attending Cal State Long Beach she pursued her love of teaching in the Westminster School District, Palo Verde USD and Western Montana. She was District Teacher of the year 3 times in Orange and Riverside Counties. She loved the challenge of discerning how each new year of students could learn and providing the tools and style of teaching to achieve that.

Linda enjoyed all things outdoors, all nature, fishing, camping, hunting, ocean exploration and her horse riding. She was part of the Blythe Riding Club and will be remembered for her famous cactus costume. Linda traveled to many countries, always learning and bringing back ideas for her classes.

Through the years she served the Lord as camp counselor, children's church teacher, Awana leader and supporting many ministries. She was involved with the CA Women of Agriculture helping with school farms after retirement.

Linda has battled with Alzheimer's over the past several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest son, James F Haselton. She leaves behind many who loved her and will miss her. Her son, Frank (Sandra) Haselton, her daughter, Debbie (John) Maltby, daughter-in-law, Kathy Haselton, grandchildren, Melisa (Dennis) Spangler, Abbie (Peter) Hilton, Mark (Amie) Haselton, John (Jennifer) Maltby II, Audra (Tim) Sampson, Scott (Erin) Haselton, James Patrick Haselton, Traci (Robert) Haselton Sarmiento and 18+ great grandchildren.

An outdoor open-air Memorial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 13th at First Baptist Church of Blythe. 100 W Murphy St. Blythe, CA
