Lincoln
Edmond
Feb 12, 1935 — Oct 2, 2019
Blythe
On February 12, 1935, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lincoln Edmond arrived in this world. He was the second of seven children born to Oscar Wallace Edmond and Metrie Etta Mae Goodridge Edmond. When Lincoln was still a baby, the family relocated to Blythe, California where he would become affectionately known as "Bubba" by his siblings and childhood friends. He graduated from Palo Verde High School (Class of 1953) and attended Palo Verde College in Blythe.
It was also in Blythe where Lincoln would meet the love of his life, Loretta Parrish. The two were united in matrimony on October 4, 1958. The couple would later be blessed with three children – Stacey Alan, Russell and Marsha. Lincoln was a devoted family man and loved his family dearly. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed basketball, baseball, barbecuing, fishing and hunting.
Lincoln accepted Christ in his life; and, in 1982, he joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he would become a lifelong member and serve as a Deacon, Trustee and a Sunday School teacher. His favorite bible scripture was Psalms 121:1 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."
Lincoln was always a hard and diligent worker. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years as a Staff Sargeant and was honorably discharged on May 14, 1963. He was employed at Palo Verde Valley Unified School District for 43 years!! He started as a bus driver and would rise to become the Supervisor of Transportation and Shop Foreman. Always wanting to keep busy, he also became a real estate agent with Century 21 and a licensed notary. Additionally, he was a charter member of the Palo Verde Transit Agency and served as Vice Chairman. As if that wasn't enough, he also represented his community on the Palo Verde College Board of Trustees where he served for 16 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #37 and the Blythe Cancer Research Center. He was a compassionate and humble man who received many awards and honors from the City of Blythe, St. Paul Baptist Church and the Palo Verde Valley School District.
To cherish his memory, Lincoln leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Loretta Parrish Edmond; his sons, Stacey Alan (Debbie), Blythe, CA and Russell (Sonjia), Los Angeles, CA; his daughter, Marsha, San Bernardino, CA; 3 sisters, Berleane Taylor Wilkins (Perris, CA), Myrtle Joyce Marie Edmond-Young (Oahu, Hawaii) and Betty Louise Edmond (Moreno Valley, CA); 3 grandchildren, Chance, Ariel and Deja; 3 great grandchildren, Alaylah, Breasia, and Malikiah; 2 sisters-in-law, Doris Brooks (Surprise, AZ) and Cynthia Jones Dallas (San Diego, CA); 2 aunts, Bernice Mack (Blythe, CA) and Agnes Parrish (Long Beach, CA); a beloved cousin, Mildred Frankie Crawford (Moreno Valley, CA) and a host of additional cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
