Obituary

Lillian Elizabeth Adams was born January 31, 1920, to Thomas and Gertrude Bradford in Coweta, Oklahoma. Her family relocated to Blythe, CA when she was a young child, where she attended local schools.

At the young age of 9, she lost her Mother to illness, then taking on the task of being a mother figure and protector to her four younger siblings.

She accepted Christ in her life at an early age, joining Bethel AME Church here in Blythe.

On June 23, 1939, Lillian married Calvin Adams, Sr. They were blessed with five children, and were married for 56 years—until 1996, when her beloved Calvin was called Home to be with the Lord.

Lillian lead a full and vibrant life. She was an inspiration and a positive influence to many—young and old. Her words of wisdom and encouragement have guided many in a positive direction and her kindness has touched many lives.

While serving the Lord at Bethel AME Church of Blythe, Lillian was active in various Ministries. She held the positions of Steward, Stewardess and Church Treasurer. She was a Missionary member and volunteered her time to other churches and organizations where needed. While devoting her time to the Lord, she loved to relax by reading, and in earlier days, sewing was a favorite pastime as well.
