Leonard Wayne Houser Jr. (Lucky) was born March 15, 1957 in New Kensington, PA. Leonard "Lucky" was one of 6 children to Sylvia and Leonard Houser Sr. Lucky moved with his family from Pennsylvania to Blythe, CA at the age of 5 years old. Lucky would go onto attend the local schools of Blythe making friends with any and every one he came in contact with, including his crush and childhood sweetheart, Valerie Bowen. Lucky and Valerie had a very special bond and love for each other. So much so they created a beautiful family together, consisting of three daughters Michele (1977), Melissa (1980) and Sylvia (1982). Lucky loved his family and ALL of his nieces, nephews and younger cousins. He was better known as "Uncle Lucky". Lucky would spend his spare time playing softball for Blythe's city league, coaching softball/football, being a softball umpire and high school football referee, listening to loud music, and spending time with his daughters, brother David, nieces, nephews and neighborhood children who have become more like family.

Lucky would also spend his Saturday's teaching all the kids how to play softball, watching scary movies/scaring us half to death with Halloween masks, and then feeding us a big plate of fried potatoes. Lucky was a happy, caring, genuine, trustworthy, and loving person. He loved life and if you ever had the opportunity to know Lucky, you would know that he was notorious for putting a smile on your face even if you weren't ready for it. If he saw you around town you can almost bet you'd hear "Hey Hey", "Alright ", "Yay" and the good ole' Yee-Haw"!!! He has an infectious attitude and smile that would light up a room anywhere he went. Lucky was known as a "Good Guy" by many.

Lucky would go on to be employed 14+ years with the Palo Verde Unified School District. Throughout his employment with the school district, Lucky formed tremendous bonds/friendships with students and staff. Lucky was positive light and always had encouraging words for those in need. Lucky retired from the school district and later went on to be employed with 76 Gas Station. Lucky also went back to college at Palo Verde Valley College and received his "Drug Counselor' certification. When he wasn't working, he'd volunteer his time to Blythe's "drug" program as a Volunteer Drug Counselor in which he saved many of Blythe's youth, young adults and adult lives providing them with his education, experiences, dedication, support, friendship and love. Lucky left this life and went home to be with the lord on March 19, 2019 at 4.43am at Riverside University Health Systems Hospital in Moreno Valley, CA. He was surrounded by his daughters Michele, Melissa and Sylvia. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leonard and Sylvia Houser; his sisters, Cheryl, Patricia; and his brother Larry.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brother David L. Houser of Blythe, CA; his sister Leonora Houser of San Diego, CA; his three children Michele Womack of Moreno Valley (James Womack IV), CA, Melissa Houser of Chicago, IL and Sylvia Houser Dickson of Victorville, CA (Albert Dickson III), three grandchildren Albert Dickson IV, Savannah Dickson, James V and a host of nieces, nephews and close family friends.

Funeral services for Leonard Houser (Lucky) will take place:
Monday, April 8th at Frye Chapel with visitation beginning at 8:30 am and funeral service beginning at 10:00 am.  Burial services will follow immediately after at Palo Verde Cemetery.  The repast will then follow at Butler Hall, located at 141 S. 2nd St. in Blythe.
