LaShanta Monique Curry was born June 11, 1987 and entered into rest April 14, 2023.

LaShanta was the oldest child of Irene Esquibel and Detrick Curry.

LaShanta attended preschool thru 1st grade at McCord Elementary in Orange Cove, CA. We moved back to Blythe and she attended Ruth Brown Elementary, Blythe Jr High School, Palo Verde High School and Palo Verde College. She graduated in 2005. She was in band when she attended Blythe Jr High School and she played the clarinet. She also had a paper route from sixth grade until she was a sophomore in High School. While in high school she played volleyball for three years, softball for two years, and one year of basketball. Her activities were four years in the Interact Club, three years Yearbook and two years in JROTC.

LaShanta loved reading. She read all sorts of books and memorized them.

LaShanta worked many different jobs and loved them all - Dairy Queen, Blythe Cinema, Panera, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wells Fargo Bank, Party Supply Store, Mel's Insurance Services Inc, Dept of Social Services, Flying J and REI.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents - Paula Esquibel and Eugenio Esquibel. Her paternal grandmother Vera Robinson. Her uncle Eugenio Esquibel Jr., uncle Jose Angel "Barnie" Esquibel, aunt Maria "Lulu" Esquibel, aunt Rosa Esquibel, uncle Jose Hernandez, cousin Carlos A. DeLaCruz, 2nd cousin Jonathon Aparicio.

She is survived by her mom Irene "Ama" Esquibel, brothers Lorenzo "Pop" Curry and Izzacc "Nano/Nito" Rosas and her sister Doreta "Dora/Nina" Esquibel Morales. Along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Celebration of Life for LaShanta will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel in Blythe.
