John Leslie Birdsong, 42, of Blythe California, peacefully passed away on Saturday September 25, 2021 surrounded by loved ones, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

John was born on September 2, 1979 to Paul and Debbie Birdsong at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, California. Throughout John's childhood he participated in various sports (baseball, football and basketball) and was always picked to be on the AllStar teams. He is often remembered for his powerful homerun swing that appeared effortless to him. Regardless of his talent John was there to have fun and enjoyed making others laugh more than playing the game. After John graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1997, he pursued a degree in Computer Science.

He worked for El Paso Gas and the Southern California Gas Company for 14+ years. John's hard work, knowledge and dedication advanced him to Managerial positions within both companies. John was passionate about his career and enjoyed what he did for a living.

John met and married Hilda Carballo the love of his life. They went on to have two children. The first was a daughter and his Princess Kaitlyn Birdsong (15) and then came his namesake John Birdsong II (10), who is the epitome of his Father. John's love and dedication to his wife and children was unmatched. It was important to him to attend and participate in any sporting event, dance and extracurricular activities his children were involved in.

John spent his time outside of work in the outdoors. He had a love of hunting, fishing, desert rides and camping. He passed this love onto his children and taught them everything he knew.

If you knew John you knew his humor, wit, smart remarks and charisma. He enjoyed being around people, no one was a stranger to John. He could carry on a conversation for days and you just listened. He had a grin that would get him out of most situations and all you could do was just laugh and say "Oh John". His presence will be missed more than he could ever realize by those who knew and loved him. Gone too soon is definitely an understatement.

John was predeceased by his father Paul Birdsong, Grandfather Paul Leslie (PL) Birdsong and Grandparents John and Ruth Friestad.

He is survived by his wife Hilda Birdsong, children Kaitlyn Birdsong and John Birdsong, his mother Debbie Schuster (Joe Schuster), older brother Paul Birdsong (Marina, Hunter, Cole, Avery), sister Karen Birdsong Sutton (Lance, Khalil, LJ, Kinley), youngest brother Robert "Bud" Birdsong (Brittney and Beau) and his grandmother Henrietta Birdsong, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
