Joseph "Joey" Barreras, 47, passed away July 26, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Joey was born November 27, 1972 in Blythe, California to James and Yolanda Barreras.  He attended the local schools and graduated from Palo Verde High School with the Class of 1991.  He attended Palo Verde College with a concentration in Criminal Justice.  Joey worked for many years as an electrician in the solar industry and most recently as a DME Technician in health care in Prescott, AZ.

In his younger years, Joey loved fishing and had a fascination with nature, even with spiders and snakes.  He loved collecting coins and rare dollar bills, playing his video games and hanging out with friends and family; especially the time he had with his son, Elijah, who was just born last year, and spending time with his girlfriend Ramona.  He also loved his dog, Doc Holliday.  Joey will always be remembered as a big joker and prankster who loved music (especially Pepe Aguilar), his Los Angeles Angels and beloved San Francisco 49ers.

He was a loving companion, father, brother, son, nephew and friend.  He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Joey is survived by his son Elijah and girlfriend Ramona Zaharia; his parents James and Yolanda Barreras; his brothers, Angel and James Jr. Barreras; his niece Mariah and nephews Anthony and Javier; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7th at 4:00 p.m., with Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Frye Chapel.
