Joe Urias Rivera, 73, passed away at his home in Blythe on July 4, 2017. He was born August 21, 1943 in Blythe to Henry and Josephine (Urias) Rivera.
After graduating high school, Joe served in the United Sates Army & Reserves from 1963-1969. He also worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at both Ironwood State Prison and Chuckawalla State Prison for a total of 10 years as a Material & Store Supervisor II. Joe had also worked for Imperial Hardware, City of Blythe and served as the Finance Officer of the American Legion.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends at the local American Legion.
He is survived by his children: Gilbert Rivera, Renee Rivera and Regina Board; his sister Mary Clark; and many dear lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held for Joe on Friday, July 28th at 9:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel with military graveside services starting at 10:00 a.m. at Palo Verde Cemetery.
There will be a potluck reception held at the American Legion following the services.
