Joe
Lewis
Oct 4, 1936 — Sep 18, 2019
Ripley
Joe Lewis was born October 4, 1936 in Crockett, Texas to Doug and Lucille Lewis. At the early age of thirteen, Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and moved out on his own to start his new life.
Joe met his first wife, Inez Brown, at the age of 20 in Fort Worth, Texas, later moving together to Phoenix, Arizona where they started their lives together. During this time, Joe and Inez married in Quartzsite, Arizona while traveling and working full time with various farming and produce companies before permanently settling in Blythe, California. In early 2011, Inez Lewis went home to be with the Lord; she and Joe were married for forty-five years and five stepchildren were a part of this union.
In late 2011, Joe retired and met the next love of his life, Tina Brooks. Joe and Tina were married in Quartzsite on November 3, 2011; five stepchildren were also a part of this union. Aside from working with different companies such as Fisher Ranch, Players, the Cotton Gin, etc., Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing about his past and history. Joe also loved spending time at the casino, playing dominos with his friends, watching westerns, enjoying nature – the 'outdoors', fishing, and driving around town admiring the fresh fruits and vegetables growing, but most of all, he loved the Lord and spending time with his wife.
On September 18, 2019, Joe was called home to rest peacefully in Christ and he will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his brothers, Ben Lewis of Crockett, TX and Albert Vaughn of Blythe, CA; his wife, Tina Brooks-Lewis of Blythe, CA; five stepchildren, Claudia Brooks of Colorado, Chauncey McBeth, Antonio Patterson, Lola Hunt and Travon Tyndale all of Blythe; six grandchildren, Antonio Patterson Jr., Tierra Patterson, Damian Patterson, Kaydence Patterson, Adrian Patterson and Promise Hunt all of Blythe, CA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends from both Crockett, TX and Blythe, CA.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Doug and Lucille Lewis; his first wife Inez Lewis; four sisters and five brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Joe on Friday, Oct. 4th at 4:30 p.m. at Miller Park in Blythe.
