James Shipley

James (Jim) Shipley was born in Seward, Nebraska on November 2nd, 1949, to Leonard (Spike) and Rose (Korinek) Shipley. He attended country school in Seward County, Ulysses and graduated high school from David City High School in 1968. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska. He was then drafted into the United States Army in 1971, and served his country while in the Vietnam War.

After his service in the United States Army was completed he relocated to Idaho, where he met his wife and life long love of 48 years, Sandra May Shipley. They were married in 1974, and later moved to California where he retired from the phone company in Blythe, Ca after 30 years. He was an active member of the Blythe Community on multiple boards and service organizations, including Palo Verde School Board, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Palo Verde Hospital Board. He enjoyed many family vacations with is wife and daughters throughout the years. Jim was an avid lover of sports, and loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He enjoyed many, many hours spent with his grandchildren and wife. Most of all he enjoyed being at home with his family.

Jim is survived and forever missed by his spouse, Sandy Shipley of Blythe, Ca, his son Alan Shipley of Idaho, his daughter Jennifer Barron of Texas, daughter Kelly Vasquez of Blythe, Ca, daughter Tracy Shipley of Blythe, Ca. Also surviving and loved by grandchildren Vanessa Shipley, Vincent Shipley, Riley Shipley, Kevin Barron, D.J. Barron, Chris Barron, Amanda Barron, Kimberly Vasquez, Devin Vasquez, Deegan Vasquez, and Rylah Black.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Rose Shipley, and brothers Darrell Shipley and Ronald Shipley.

He is gone from our home, but not from our hearts.  We love you, Dad.
