Obituary

James R. Lloyd

Jim passed away on September 4. 2021 in San Diego, California at the age of 73. He was born on January 6, 1948 to Floe Lloyd and James Ernest (Ernie) Lloyd in Salinas, California.

He grew up in the Imperial Valley, graduating from Holtville High School in 1966. He was active on the football and basketball teams and also played the trumpet in the high school band.

After high school, Jim continued his studies at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in Agriculture. He had a lifelong love of farming. Quail Mesa in Poston, Arizona was his true home. His love of the land and surrounding area was obvious to all who knew him. After a long day of work, he loved to take his ATV to the desert, sit on a cliff with a cold beer and watch the sunset over his farm.

In his free time, he loved to go to the Colorado River with his bass boat. He loved water sports and fishing, especially with his buddies, young and old. His yearly trip to Lake Powell gave him some much needed time away from work to relax and play with his group of lifelong friends.

He was a caring soul with a big heart. When you think of Jim, celebrate the good memories you have. His love of hunting, fishing and yes, cooking, gave him much pleasure. A kind and generous man, his heart was full when seated around the table with the people he loved the most.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Blanche Stewart Lloyd; his three children, Casey (Bob) Arnold of San Diego, CA and their children Abigail and Wyatt; Jason (Jolene) Lloyd of Yuma, AZ and their children Britney, Aiden and Payton; and Joshua (Cynthia) Lloyd of Blythe, CA and their children Reece and Mia.

He is also survived by two sisters, Leah Daniell of Las Vegas, NV and Judith Rubin of Blythe, CA; and many nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Jim".
