Jesus (Chuchi) Morales Guilin
February 23, 1934 – January 15, 2021
On January 15, 2021, Jesus (Chuchi) Morales Guilin was called home. Chuchi was born in Calexico where he spent his early years growing up and going to school. As a young boy he enjoyed spending time with his Nana Lucia Galindo Guilin and his uncles at their home in Mexicali. He attended Calexico high school where he excelled in the classroom as well on the baseball field, making the varsity baseball team as freshman. As a young adult he would travel to Blythe where he would work with his cousins and uncles for the local farmers. It was while he was working in Palo Verde Valley that he would meet his wife to be Mary Ester Talamante.
With the loss of sight in his left eye to an accident working in agriculture, he began his career as a grocer and butcher. After stints with local grocery stores Ripley Market, Ralphs Market and Safeway he went on to open his own grocery store J&J Market in Blythe. He would end up moving J&J Market to Ripley where he made his mark on the Palo Valley until he retired in 1998. J&J Market was not just a source of income for Chuchi but was a way for him to be able to do what he really loved, spending time with his family. Chuchi (Dad & Tata) was happiest when he was spending time with his kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his family from Calexico.
Jesus was preceded in death by his parents Luis and Enriqueta Morales Guilin, Sisters Martha Guilin and Maria Lucia (Licha) Guilin.
Jesus is survived by his wife Mary Ester Guilin and his five children Jesus Guilin, Yolanda Soto (Daniel), Norma Wellentin (Scott), Richard Guilin, and Danny Guilin (Stephanie). Siblings Jose Luis (Chi Chi) Guilin, Enriqueta (Queta) Calderon, Yolanda (Yoli) Guilin, Evaganelina (Eva) Salgado, Lucia (Weda) Guilin, Guadalupe (Lupe) Guilin, Concepcion (Concha) Caldwell.
