Jere Francis Allan was born in Kimball, Tennessee on 20 December 1932. He was the youngest of five boys and has two sisters younger than he.

Jere attended Kimball grammar school, Marion County High School and received a BS Degree in Industrial Arts from Tennessee Tech University. While attending Tennessee Tech, he was in the Army Signal Corp ROTC.  Jere's family was very poor and he worked his way through Tenn. Tech by driving a bus for Cookeville Transit Lines and a Pan Am Service Station. Upon graduating from College, June 1955, he went on active duty in the Army Signal Corp and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.  Jere was a platoon leader in the 526 Signal Company, a Microwave radio Company.  Due to a shortage of Officer Personnel, Jere was promoted from the Company to the 504th Signal Battalion as battalion motor officer. He was in charge of the largest motor pool on Fort Huachuca.  He was responsible for 5 Signal Company, Battalion and Signal Group vehicles.

While stationed at Fort Huachuca he met Adelene Anderson on a blind date.  Adelene was the girls physical education teacher at Douglas, Arizona High School.  They were married on 26 May 1956 after a short courtship.  They have been married for 68 years. They have four children, Kyra Ford, Adelene Gromer, Kyle Allan, and Jere Brett Allan.

Jere went on maneuvers to Fort Polk, Louisiana in preparation for war in Laos. This later became the Viet Nam War. He was also alerted for the Bay of Pigs War under President Kennedy. After being separated from the Army, he moved to Thermal, California, the home town of wife Adelene.

He grew dates and managed Covalda Date Company's date packing shed owned by Adelene's father, Lee Anderson Sr. Jere was President of the Coachella Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of the Riverside County Associated Chambers of Commerce. He was a charter member of the Coachella Valley Rotary Club. In 1963 the date business had a recession due to the loss of Bracero Labor. In June of 1963 Jere moved his family to Blythe, and became the Farm Bureau (Cal- Farm) Insurance Company Agent. In January 1980 Jere left Cal-Farm and formed his own independent insurance agency- Jere Allan Insurance. He was able to purchase Zimmerman Insurance Agency to become the propitiation of the oldest insurance agency in Blythe. To supplement the family income, Jere was a substitute teacher at Palo Verde High School. He sold the agency and retired October 2021. Jere was a volunteer fire fighter for Riverside County for 12 years. He taught insurance classes at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison for several years. Jere became a member of the Blythe Lions Club and thoroughly enjoyed working with the Lions.

Jere is survived by his wife Adelene Allan, daughters Kyra Ford and Adelene Iwai-Gromer (Patrick), sons Kyle Allan and Jere B. Allan, grandchildren Michael Ford, Matthew Ford (Melissa), Chiyo Iwai-Neal (Raymond), Naomi Iwai and Zoe Gromer, great grandchildren Molly Ford, Hunter Ford, Cody Ford, Connor Iwai-Neal and Pepper Iwai-Neal.

Jere was preceded in death by his son-in-laws Hiroshi Iwai and Steve Ford.

Funeral services for Jere will be held on Wednesday, September 25th 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel in Blythe.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the following; Blythe Lions Club, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
