Jean Wei Wong was born on December 17th, 1932 in Canton, China. She was raised and educated in Hong Kong. Jean met and married Sue Wah Wong. After they wed, she immigrated to the United States in the year of 1950. Her husband found a job and settled in Blythe. Jean and her husband then went on to start a restaurant in East Blythe named "Wong Cafe." They were both in the restaurant business for 18 years. Jean had two children, Thomas and Joyce. In 1968, they decided to convert their business into a liquor/convenient store called J&W Liquor. Her hobbies included sewing and reading during her spare time.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Sue Wah Wong and her son, Thomas Wong.
She is survived by:
her daughter, Joyce,
sister, Julia Fong,
nieces, Sandra Fong, Shirley Jones and her husband (Matt) and Doris Potts and her husband (Alex),
granddaughter, Elloisa Sanchez and her husband (Javier)
and great grandson, Liam Sanchez.
Jean will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. at Frye Chapel followed by the service beginning at 10: a.m.. Afterwards, the burial will take place at Palo Verde Cemetery.
Due to the current situation of the Covid-19 environment, plans for reception/celebration of life will be held at a later date for your health and safety. Exact date and time to be determined. Thank you for your understanding.
