Jack
Schuringa
Jul 2, 1937 — Dec 18, 2024
Coeur d'Alene
Jack R. Schuringa was born on July 2, 1937, in Santa ana, CA and passed away December 18, 2024 in Coeur d'Alene, ID.
Jack grew up in Anaheim, CA on the family orange orchards. He graduated from Anaheim high in 1955 and decided to join the Army shortly after Graduation. After two years in Germany in the Army, Jack took a job at Taylor Dunn in Anaheim, CA.
Through mutual friends Jack was introduced to Susan Sowden and married on July 25, 1960. With Susans grandmother, mother, Aunt and uncle settling in Blythe and starting Valley Laundry & Cleaners, this gave Jack and Susan incentive and opportunity to move to a smaller community.
Jack worked as a welder/fabricator. Valley Laundry soon added a route sales position and Jack was the perfect fit. With his great personality, big smile and strong work ethic Jack was on his way to becoming an entrepreneur. Jacks ambition through the years produced numerous rental properties, coin op laundries, a car wash and express lube.
Jack was a member of the Anaheim Street Sweepers car club from high school until his death. He enjoyed many activities such as the Blythe boat club, stock car racing and offroad trucks, theme parks and the annual Newport Beach trips, which he did for almost 20 years.
Jack loved Blythe and the community, and he was Very proud to call Blythe his home. He served on the Board of Directors of Colorado River Savings and Loan, the 54th District Fair Board, The Blythe Boat Club and was an Elks Lodge member. Jack was President of the Blythe Jaycees during the Fairgrounds move from Defrain to the current location.
He was always a big supporter of all the local parades, homecomings, reunions, football games and much more.
In later years Jack purchased a ranch in Cassville, MO that he loved to work on with his longtime companion Myrtle Kimble.
Jack was preceded by his wife of 48 years, Susan Schuringa, his parents Jake and Olga Schuringa and his brother Robert Schuringa.
He will be dearly missed by his children Renee and Bob Balestra, Michael and Susan Schuringa, 7 Grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, his loving companion Myrtle Kimble and his friends and life-long acquaintances.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Blythe Cancer Resource Center.
