With her daughters by her side Irene Ann DeConinck passed away at her home in Blythe, CA on June 28, 2021, due to complications from a stroke. She was born at home on a dairy, in Buena Park, CA on January 21, 1929, the fifth daughter in a family of eight children. She is survived by two sisters, Jackie Borges of Chino, CA and Josie Cauwel, of Lee's Summit, MO, and her four children Paulette Zuehlke (Carl), Rathdrum, ID, Joseph (Joey) DeConinck (Jacque), Blythe, CA, Annette Cooper (Luther), Blythe, CA, and Jeanette DeConinck Hertzler (Dean), Veteran, WY, granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, a great-great-granddaughter, a great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was married on November 20, 1948, to Paul L. DeConinck, a farmer in Artesia, CA. and assumed her lifetime role as a homemaker and mother. Paul and Irene moved their farming operation to Maricopa, AZ in 1952 and in 1972 moved to Blythe, CA.
In 1981, Irene left Blythe to settle in Hemet, CA where she resided until 2018 when she returned to Blythe. While in Hemet, Irene sang with The Happy Harmoneers for 32 years and participated in the Ramona Pageant, where she played the role of an Indian woman for 10 years. She also worked in a childcare facility, as a helper for one year.
Throughout her lifetime, Irene enjoyed singing, needlepoint, embroidery, scrapbooking and staying in touch with family and friends with cards and by phone.
Irene was proceeded in death by her brother (Tony), four sisters (Mary, Dena, Angie, Gloria) and her husband (Paul).
Our family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation and kindness and excellent care Mother received from The River Valley Hospice Team.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 22, 2022, from 11am to 3pm at the Hynes D.E.S. Paramount Portuguese Hall 7812 Alondra Blvd. Paramount, CA 90723. A lunch will be served. Please RSVP by Dec. 1, 2021. Call or Text 307-534-5479 or email IDeConinck22@gmail.com
