Ida Mae
Stroschein
Apr 20, 1937 — Dec 2, 2022
La Quinta
Ida Mae "Denie" Stroschein, 85, began shining her light on the world April 20th, 1937. She entered eternal rest surrounded by loved ones at her La Quinta, CA home on December 2nd, 2022.
Ida Mae was born in Shumway, AZ and was the daughter of Horald & Emma Denham. With six siblings, her childhood was filled with fun and a whole lot of laughter. She loved music and enjoyed spending time singing and playing instruments with her family. Ida Mae was extremely talented, vibrant, kind and a total go-getter. She went to Mesa High School where she stole the show performing in large productions with her Drama Club. She was very popular and shined bright each time she put on her dancing shoes and hit the stage with her dance team the Rabbettes.
After graduating she worked for a telegram company which led her to meet the love of her life. In 1956 she married Wandell Stroschein and quickly called Blythe, CA her home. They had two children, Delbert and Sandra and built a beautiful life together on their family farm where they spent decades creating and cherishing memories. Ida Mae did it all. She raised two kids, kept a farm up and running, was a brown belt in Karate and even owned her own gym called "Denie's Sweatshop" where she taught aerobics and enjoyed welcoming her community.
Ida Mae had a way of making anyone who crossed her path feel like the most special person in the world. Her excitement for life was fueled by her passion of giving back to others. She spent the last few years of her life doing just that, generously volunteering at a non-profit which serves adults and children with disabilities.
Ida Mae loved cracking jokes, taking her daily walks, watching Lakers games, UFC Fights, and most of all…spending time with her family. She never had a bad day. And if she did, you'd never know it. Ida Mae saw the positive in every moment and always had a smile on her face. She brought a little sunshine to the lives of everyone blessed enough to know her.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Wandell Stroschein, her parents Walter Horald & Emma Sophia Denham, her sisters, Dorene Williams, Betty Walters, and her brothers Chad and Francis Denham.
Ida Mae leaves to cherish her memories; sisters Beulah Martin of Pinedale, AZ, Myrlene Johnson of Mesa, AZ, brother Howard Denham of Mesa, AZ, son Delbert Stroschein, daughter Sandra Hardridge, her beloved grandchildren Derin Stroschein, Derrick Stroschein, Ariane Broom, Michael Hardridge, Morgan Moore, Dain Hardridge, Trey Hardridge, Jayaniese Smith, Macey Hardridge, and seven Great-Grandchildren whom she absolutely adored.
Her Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 14th at 11a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - 700 N. Broadway, Blythe, CA 92225. It is open to the public.
