Gloria June (Byrd) Stroschein; she was a beautiful loving mother and grandmother. She passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on December 28, 2021.

Gloria was born and raised in Blythe. She loved the community, her church and everything agriculture. Gloria was a long-time member of the California Women for Agriculture (CWA) Palo Verde Chapter and was enthusiastic about agriculture and education. She was involved at the state level with CWA where they lobbied for agriculture.

Gloria was born to LeRoy and Ava Byrd on April 5, 1943, in Blythe, California. She was the fifth and youngest child of LeRoy and Ava.

She met Wayne Stroschein on Halloween of 1958 and they were married July 4, 1959. Gloria attended Palo Verde High School with the 1961, she married when she was sixteen and started to work at the Palms Motel. She started working for Thrifty Drugs when it first opened and moved into the pharmacy and then into management. Along the way she worked beside Wayne on the farm growing it from 150 acres to 1400 acres. Wayne and Gloria had four children: Eric, Russell, Bert, and Debra.

Gloria is survived by her sons Eric, Russell(Becky), and her daughter Debra. Her grandchildren Brett, Kerri, Rushell, Heather, Kaylyn, Brent, Austin, Stephan, Caleb, Maddie, and Parker. She is survived by several great grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by her friend and companion Howard who came into her life a few years ago and made her happy.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her son Bert, her siblings Melba, Gwen, Paul and David, her parents LeRoy and Ava, and her grandson Daniel.

Gloria will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kindness. She was fun loving and made you feel warm and welcomed. Friends and family will greatly miss Gloria.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 21, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Blythe at 721 E. Chanslorway at 10:00 am. A luncheon will be held at the Colorado River Fairgrounds immediately following. Gloria's final resting place will be Mt. View Cemetery in Pocatello Idaho alongside her husband Wayne.

In lieu of flowers the family is setting up a memorial scholarship with CWA in Gloria's name to be given to a graduating senior from Palo Verde High School that is going to continue their education in the field of agriculture.
