Gertie was born on August 10, 1937 at Methodist Hospital in Los Angeles, California

She was the second child of Harry and Gertrude Meagher. She had an older sister, Carol (Crowder), a younger sister Patricia (Clifford) and a younger brother, Harry Meagher II.

The family moved to the San Bernardino area where the girls attended the Catholic High School. in San Bernardino. There brother came along when the girls were graduating and went to school in Colton, California.

On September 7, 1957 she married Earl Sonner, a Marine that was stationed at 29 Palms.  The met through one of her friends the previous year.

They got married in Las Vegas and traveled back to Michigan to visit his parents. A trip that was made a good number of times during their marriage.

They lived in Colton, California for several years and then moved to Victorville and finally Blythe, California with his job at Southern Calif Edison.

Earl and Gert have a two daughters, Doris and Merry and a son, Earl II. Three grandsons, one granddaughter, one great grandson and one great granddaughter.

The Sonner family includes Doris's husband, Will, who is more a son than a son-in-law and Earl II's wife, Lourdes who is more a daughter than a daughter in law.

Grandma will be missed.
