George Halby III

August 11, 1965  -  May 11, 2026

George Halby, my son and best friend, has passed away from a long illness.

George was born on Aug. 11, 1965 at 11:11 am at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and was baptized in Blythe, California at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church by Father Lloyd Bourgeois.  Georgie attended Catechism and received Confirmation his senior year of high school. He played baseball growing up and as a pitcher helped his team win a little league championship.

George attended Ruth Brown Elementary School, Blythe Jr. High and graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1983.  Mr. Tony Reale, who was in charge of discipline at the high school, said, "I've never seen or heard about him so don't worry. He's a good kid!" Georgie always worked from a newspaper route, to Ron Moxon's Pizza Place, to a server at a Chinese restaurant, and of course, summer jobs at the sheds with his dad.

Georgie worked with his dad at our family store, Halby's, during and after high school. He had a sandwich shop called Gogies (his nickname) for a brief time but due to serious illness in our family, we closed it. He went on to Tempe, Arizona and received an AA degree from Al Collins Graphic Design School of the Arts. At this time he met and eventually married Alicia Tyler, and they lived for many years in a small town outside of Las Vegas before separating in 1997.

He moved to San Diego and shared an apartment with his cousin, Scott Halby, and worked various jobs there. Then he moved to Los Angeles and rented an apartment from his cousin, Tom Farrage. Tom introduced him to successful artists and he had the opportunity to work and be friends with them and George spoke about this time as one of the happiest of his life. He even was a driver for Jennifer Lopez, which (of course) he loved.

In the late 2000's he developed a relationship with Lyndsey Garrison, and they moved to Tucson. There he worked in elder rehabilitation facilities for many years. They had a child named Braelynn Halby. She is 17 years old and lived with him.

At this time, Georgie's health started to decline. He had serious operations and required living close to a major hospital for the rest of his life. His heart failing was his final illness.

Georgie was preceded in death by his father, George Halby, his grandparents, Joe and Alice Halby, grandparents John and Wilma Lard, his Aunts Pam, Karen, and Nikki, and Uncles Tom and John. He is survived by his daughter, Braelynn, Mother Lavonne, and sisters Melissa and Dana, his Uncle Joseph, nephews Gabriel, Joey, and Alex, and nieces Rachael and Angela.

He was a good, kind person and our family misses him terribly.

Thursday, May 21st at Frye Chapel & Mortuary – Visitation, 6-8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7p.m.
Friday, May 22nd at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church – Mass, 10:00 a.m. with burial following at Palo Verde Cemetery.
