Obituary

We are sad to announce the death of Gene Brown, who passed away at Blythe Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on June 28, 2023 after a brief illness. He was 79 years of age.

Gene was predeceased by his father Hiram, mother Eva, beloved wife of 50 years Linda, brother Dan and sister Nancy.

He is survived by daughters Kandy (Manuel) and Cindy (Mike), grandchildren Michael, Kaitlyn, BreAnna and Jocelyn, and by his oldest sister Ida.

Gene came to Blythe with his family at the age of 7 from Arizona, graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1961, married the love of his life Linda in 1964, and raised his daughters there. Gene was employed with the Palo Verde Irrigation District for 47 years from where he retired in 2012.

Gene loved keeping up with his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys and was a longtime baseball fan of the Cincinnati Reds. In his younger days he enjoyed spending time with his family at the desert in winter and keeping cool at the river during summer. He spent the rest of his free time listening to 50s and 60s music, watching classic movies featuring Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne, and telling his favorite stories (more than once) from "the good ole days."

In accordance with Gene's wishes, his family will hold a private gathering to celebrate his life and recollect fond memories.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff members at Blythe Post Acute, Frye Chapel and Mortuary, and Palo Verde Cemetery for their support and assistance during this difficult time.
