Gaylin Richard Woodard, 91, of Quartzsite, Arizona passed away on November 25, 2022, after having suffered from a stroke.
Woody, as he was known, was born on October 14, 1931, in Tacoma, WA. After graduating high school he went on to enlist in the Air Force during the Korean War for 4 years and was stationed on an island outside of Japan. After the war, he went to work for Boeing, while attending college for Wildlife Biology. After graduation, he went to work for the Game Department in Washington State for 8 Years. He then became a co-owner and manager of the iconic Twin Rivers Inn restaurant in Naches, WA and was working there when he met the love of his life, JoAnn Woodard. They were married in June of 1979. After the eruption of Mt St Helens, he left the restaurant business and relocated his family to Yakima, WA. There, he went to work as a school bus driver for the same school his sons attended and refereed softball games. Woody and JoAnn retired in Quartzsite, AZ where they have lived since 1998. Woody had a gift for gab and was known to strike up conversations with complete strangers, had a kind heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Woody is survived by his wife, JoAnn and two sons, Eric and Ryan.
Funeral services will be held at the Hi Jolly cemetery on December 12, 2022 at 10 AM.
