Frederick Duane Scarbrough joined the Lord in Heaven on December 14, 2017.

Fred was born in Blythe, CA on January 6, 1938 to Ella Alice Alvada Lindsey and Samuel David Scarbrough. He attended school in Blythe. After graduation in 1955, he joined the Air Force with best friend Leslie George. Fred had the exciting job of being a Boom Operator, and flying in a KC-97, while fueling planes during flight!

After leaving the Air Force, he worked at Urich Gas Station in Blythe. He also worked as an Ambulance Driver and a Police Officer. In 1961 he began working at Farmers and Merchants Bank as a teller, where he met the love of his life, Mary Mees. They met in June of 1962, and were married soon after on March 16, 1963. Then Fred began his career at the Southern California Gas Company, where he worked for the next 30 years and made many good friends. They had three children Cindy, Fred Jr. and Liz. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage. After 30 years, Fred retired from the Gas Co and pursued his love of riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle, traveling with Mary in their motorhome, camping and riding quads with Leslie & Sheila George, camping and other activities with his church family. Fred enjoyed making homemade knives, spears and turquoise jewelry in his shop, which he loved to give away to his family & friends.

Fred joined a Christian music group online. He was a DJ on an internet gospel radio station and led an online prayer group, where he made many friends and helped many people. He eventually decided to return to work as a Palo Verde Valley Transit Bus driver, where he made many more great friends, telling people about Jesus and enjoying spending time meeting new people. He was an active member of the Blythe Church of the Nazarene since 1968, where he served in many different areas including driving the church bus and teaching Bible studies. He could always be found hitting the yard sales with his brother George on Saturday mornings, or shooting out in the desert.

Fred was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, and his sister Dorothy Smith.

He is survived by his wife Mary Scarbrough; children, Cindy Logan and husband Joe, Fred Jr. and Carmen, and Liz Izzo and Tracy; grandchildren Chelsea Scarbrough, J.T. and Madison Logan, T.J. and Hannah Izzo and great-grandson Michael Maxwell, his brother and sister-in-law, George and Rita Scarbrough; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and lots of "adopted kids" he loved and many, many more good friends he will see again in Heaven!

The Memorial service for Fred will be held on Friday, December 22nd at 11:00 am at the Blythe Church of the Nazarene, 131 N. Second St.
