Frances B.
Guilin
Mar 23, 1935 — Dec 17, 2021
Blythe
Frances passed away at home in Blythe, California on December 17, 2021. She was born on March 23, 1935, to Alfonso and Frances Bachelier in Nogales, Arizona. She was the youngest of their four children. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Frances Bachelier, sons Mario and Francisco Guilin, great grand-daughter Faith Frances Anderson, sister Socorro Calixtro, and brothers Alfonso and Arnold Bachelier.
Frances is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Gilbert Guilin, her children Eleanor (Joe), Rosalie (Larry), Gilbert (Rosy), Robert (Alice), Jerry (Sophie), Chris and Sabrina Guilin. She had 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, plus numerous nephews and nieces that all loved her very much.
Frances attended school at Sacred Heart Catholic School and Nogales High School in Nogales, Arizona. She was a Majorette in high school and came to Blythe to perform in a local parade. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gilbert Guilin. Gilbert would go visit Frances in Nogales, but on one trip, he said he was not coming back, so Frances left with him, and they got married in Quartzsite on their trip back to Blythe. Together Gilbert and Frances had nine children and raised them on Ash Street in Blythe. Her home was where everyone gathered for family events and barbecues; if you showed up at Frances', she made sure she fed you!
Each year, the family would make their yearly trip to Nogales to visit their cousins and grandmother on Bowman Street. As their kids got older, Frances took them to their various sport activities and dance classes. Frances raised all her children in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Blythe.
When the children were young, it was normal for the wives to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But, in 1989, after all her children were grown and starting their own families, Frances attended Palo Verde College and completed her GED. She also took additional business courses. Not long after that, Frances and Gilbert started GG Guilin Farms. She was always proud of the time she spent running the business with her husband.
Frances was the matriarch of the family - she enjoyed keeping up on all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching her growing family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Thank you for all your condolences and sympathy during this time.
Memorial services for Frances will be held on Saturday, January 15th at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Rosary at 9 Am and Mass at 10 AM.
