Floyd “Pat” Wolfe, 80, of Blythe, California, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his family. Pat was proud to be one of the few who could say he was born and raised in Blythe, with his final years spent caring for his wife of 60 years, Nancy, with unwavering love and devotion.

Pat lived a life defined by hard work, adventure, family and a love for the outdoors. Over the years, he held a number of different jobs, but he was perhaps best known for his many years running the Blythe Airport. His connection to the airport extended far beyond his work. He became a friend and supporter of the military, frequently hosting enormous cookouts for service members. His generosity and support earned him letters of appreciation from both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army, and he was even coined by General James Conway (ret) in recognition of his contributions.

Outside of work, Pat was happiest outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating, and few things brought him more joy than spending time at the river. He was well known for taking people out on the ski barge—sometimes pulling them behind the boat and sometimes tossing them off.

Pat’s love of adventure took him across the country. They spent years camping and traveling together, eventually camping in forty-nine states, with only Hawaii left unexplored. One of their most memorable adventures took them all the way to Alaska, where their beloved dog, Ginger, famously jumped in the river, catching herself a salmon.

To his grandchildren, Pat will always be fondly remembered for his pancakes, anytime anywhere. Never one to let weekend events get in the way of breakfast, he rigged his electric griddle to his trucks cigarette lighter so pancakes could be made on the tailgate for all to enjoy. It was just one of the many ways he showed his family how much they meant to him.

Pat also had a mischievous side, especially in his younger years. Famous stories of him driving his little red Jeep on railroad tracks, speeding through town on his motorcycle and any other shenanigans he and his buddies would get into will surely be told for generations to come. He truly lived by the philosophy of work hard, play harder.

Later in life, Pat found peace and comfort in worship as a parishioner of Zion Lutheran Church. Of all the things Pat loved in life, nothing meant more to him than his wife, Nancy. The two were married for 60 years and built a life filled with family, adventure, laughter and countless memories. Pat is survived by his beloved wife Nancy Wolfe; his daughters, Debbie Harding and Valerie Wolfe; and his grandchildren, Joseph Sheble, Amanda Jett, and Jacob Sheble.

Pat was a hero to many, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a man who never seemed to run out of stories—or adventures. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service and celebration of Pat’s life will be held November 6th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Blythe, California.
