Obituary

Florentino 'Tino' Zarate Jr.
December 12, 1981 – May 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Florentino 'Tino' Zarate Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Tino passed away on May 27, 2025, in Blythe, California.

Born on December 12, 1981, Tino will forever be remembered as a one-of-a-kind man. He had a heart bigger than life itself, always willing to give the shirt off his back, offer a helping hand, or bring a smile with one of his classic jokes (often the dirty kind he loved). His warmth and humor lifted spirits wherever he went, and his words of wisdom made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, whether they were close or a complete stranger.

Tino touched countless lives. He was a dedicated member of the community, most proud of his involvement with the Palo Verde High School Football team and the Blythe Hornets youth football program, where he devoted his time and heart every week and weekend during the season. His love for his family and his community knew no bounds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Zarate, and his children: Florentino Zarate III, Danelle J. Zarate, and Antonio J. Zarate. He also leaves behind his adored grandson, Anthony Santiago Jose Burrola.

Tino is also survived by his parents: Florentino Zarate Sr., Andrea Moreno, Helen Myles (Moreno), Gracie Moreno, Bertha Serna, and Brenda Solis; his siblings: Tina Zarate, Yvonne (Jason) Padilla, Tony Jr. (Yadira) Canchola, Robert Garcia, and Isreal Zarate; along with many loving tíos, tías, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Tino is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Nana Socorro Lopez Moreno and Tata Enrique V. Moreno; paternal grandparents, Francisco Gallardo Zarate and Cleotilde Cadona Morales; his Tía Delfina Ochoa, Tío Ernie, and Tío Jose Luis 'Joe Joe' Ochoa.

Throughout his life, Tino worked at Jack in the Box, Shell, Red Cactus, Subway, and Comfort Suites, where he was known not just for his work ethic but for his kindness, loyalty, and uplifting spirit.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 AM at Frye Chapel in Blythe and is open to all friends, extended family, and community members who wish to pay their respects and celebrate his life. The family is sincerely grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. If anyone would like to assist with funeral expenses, donations can be made directly to Frye Chapel.

Tino's legacy of love, laughter, and service to others will never be forgotten. He will be missed beyond measure.
