Floie Barrows, 82, of Blythe, California, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Floie was born on August 18, 1938, to Dave Barrows and Jean Walker, spending most of his childhood in California in Redlands, Yucaipa and San Bernardino. He was affectionately known as "Buster" growing up and his sister, Wendy, still calls him by this name. He attended school in Redlands, graduating from Redlands High School in 1956 and attended both San Bernardino Valley College and UC Riverside, studying mathematics, graduating in1962. He also studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at the North American School of Travel. His move to Blythe came with a manager position at Western Auto back in the 1960's, and led to him becoming a managing partner at Blythe Travel Agency. He ended his working career at Union Bank.

Floie was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma of more than 50 years and is survived by, and will be missed by, his sister Wendy Holt (Terry), cousin Rowena (Bonnie) Sachs, daughter Karen Donaghe (Dale) and sons Raymond Kingsbury, Steven Devor (Lois) and David Barrows. He was grandfather to Bryan Devor (Kendra), Denise De Leon (Rafael), Lindsey Yslas (Martin) Haylee Borgstrom (Henrik) and Hannah Donaghe. He was a proud great grandfather to Kenzee, Zane, Dax, Cali, Addison and Ella and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Floie loved astronomy, microscopy, reading and was a history buff. He spent some of his free time watching old black and white movies, saying they were the best! He served on multiple civic committees in Blythe and was proud of his community.

A special thank you to the staff at the local nursing home, Blythe Post Acute, and to many long time friends in Blythe for their loving care and support during his 60 years in Blythe. Also, his family would like to extend their gratitude to Frye Chapel & Mortuary for being so understanding during this time.

At Floie's request there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered in the ocean, at the same spot where his wife Norma's ashes were scattered. He loved this idea, but said he would need to be taken out a little further since she got a head start and he would need to catch up.
